SYNGENETIC STRONTIUM ORE DEPOSITION AT THE BASE OF ASMARI FORMATION, BANGESTAN ANTICLINE, BEHBAHAN, IRAN

Abstract:
Detailed petrographic, geochemical and strontium isotope studies, combined with field observation and rnicrofacies investigations indicate that syngenetic celestite at the base of Asmari Formation at the Bangestan anticline, Behbahan region, was deposited directly from Tertiary seawater in an intrasupratidal to supratidal environment. During diagenesis, the precipitated celestite underwent several textural and mineralogical modifications, the most important of which was the formation of diagenetic crystallization rhythmites. Fluid inclusion geotherrnometry and rmR analyses suggest that the fluid medium, in which recrystallization of the celestite took place, was among other constituents rich in immature hydrocarbons. It is demonstrated that the celestite concretions were subjected to several low temperature thermal events, the maximum of which did not exceed 255?C

full textMicrobiostratigraphy of the Oligo-Miocene Asmari Formation, Kuh Siah Anticline (Izeh Basin), SW Iran
This research focusses on the biostratigraphy and paleoecological implications of the carbonatesof the Asmari Formation. The Asmari Formation is located in the Siah Kuhanticline of Izeh, Zagros Basin, SW Iran. It is of Late Oligocene (Chattian) - Early Miocene (Burdigalian) age. In this stratigraphic section, the Asmari Formation overlies the Pabdeh Formation and underlies the Gachsaran Formati...
full textbiostratigraphy and paleoecology of the asmari formation at nil anticline area (north-east of dehdasht)
the asmari formation at nil anticline area has been studied in order to determine faunal assemblages, the age and the paleoecology. paleontological and biostratigraphical studies led to the identification of 5 faunal assemblages. as a result, the age of the asmari formation in this section, with 291m thickness, is rupelian/chattian-burdigalian. extension of the large benthic foraminifera sugges...
full textAnalysis of fold and fault-related fracture systems development using image logs at Asmari Formation in the Rag Sefid Anticline, SW Iran
Image logs of 13 wells in the Rag Sefid Anticline show two systems of fractures developed under two deformation phase in the Dezful Embayment. This deformation phases are folding resulted from Zagros NE contraction and reactivation of the basement fault rotated the fold axial trace within the Hendijan-Izeh fault zone. Folding phase comprises four sets of fractures, which include axial and cross...

full textTextural pattern of secondary gypsum in the Basal Anhydrite of the Asmari Formation, SW Iran
The Oligocene–Miocene deposits of the Asmari Formation are located in SW of the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The lower part of the Asmari Formation consists of an evaporite bed that is termed Basal Anhydrite. Seven sections from four different anticlines were selected and sampled for petrographic and mineralogical analyses .The petrographical examinations were carried out using an optical polarize...
